Classic Canadian Songs from Smithsonian Folkways

Classic Canadian Songs from Smithsonian Folkways contains songs about work, courtship, drinking, historical events, politics, patriotism, and spiritual conviction as well as a variety of lively instrumental tunes. The CD showcases singers, singer-songwriters, and instrumentalists from across the country. Many performers rose to national and international prominence; others were respected and cherished for their contributions to music-making in the communities in which they lived. Many of the most important collectors of Canadian material were affiliated with the Museum of Civilization (formerly known as the Museum of Man) and generally specialized in particular regions and traditions.
