Classic Canadian Songs from Smithsonian Folkways

The original Folkways catalogue includes traditional, ethnic, and contemporary music from around the world; poetry, spoken word, and instructional recordings; children's songs and games; and documentary recordings of individuals, communities, historical events, and the sounds of nature, machines, and human activity. Acquired in 1987 by the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage in Washington, DC, the entire catalogue remains in print, perpetuating Moe Asch's belief that every album had a permanent place in his "encyclopedia of sound" regardless of how well it sold. Smithsonian Folkways Recordings continues to expand Moe's encyclopedia, adding other record labels and releasing new recordings.
