Gilbert Anderson, Northern Alberta Métis Fiddler

Gilbert Anderson was born in Calahoo, Alberta, in 1934 and grew up just west of Edmonton on the Stony Plain Indian Reserve, home of the Enoch Cree Nation, where he lived with his older half-brother Lawrence. Until he was in his early thirties, Gilbert played guitar for Lawrence and his brother Pete, both of whom were respected fiddlers at Enoch and a generation older than he was.
