Huculak drew on his knowledge of musicians in east central Alberta to find new, local material for his recordings. He recognized that the region was a "hotbed" for Ukrainian traditional music. For example, the town of Andrew, Alberta, boasted a number of accomplished bandleaders, including John Zelisko, John Kinasewich, Anton Ewasiuk, and, perhaps the most famous of all, Metro Radomsky.
