The History of Fiddling in Northern Alberta: Working Fiddlers

Edmonton had a vibrant music scene in the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Venues, such as the Starland Ballroom, hosted dances every weekend, and city fiddlers had many opportunities for professional experience. Some fiddlers found it difficult to adjust to these new performance contexts.
