The History of Fiddling in Northern Alberta: Working Fiddlers

By the end of the 1960s, changing tastes in music, increasing commercialization in the popular music industry, and the general trend towards urbanization pushed Northern Alberta fiddling traditions out of the cultural mainstream. In 1968 the CBC cancelled Don Messer's Jubilee in spite of its large, loyal audience. In 1970 Frankie Rodgers moved to New Zealand.
